Alice Lucas

I started dancing at Susan Lucas School of Dance where I trained and gained my grade 8 in RAD ballet. This gave me the opportunity to perform in many fetes, fayes and pantomimes.

At the age of 10 I got my first professional job at the Gordon Craig theatre where I performed in pantomimes for 5 years.

As well as pantomimes I got the chance to perform with the English Youth Ballet company performing in the Nutcracker.

At the age of 16 I left home to go to a professional performing arts college called Studios La Pointe (SLP). While studying there for 3 years I worked professionally for many different companies - Bradford Bulls, Elite Dance Company and many gigs within theatres across the country.

After graduating with honours and achieving a National Dipolma in Musical Theatre as well as becoming a fully qualified teacher with the RAD I went on to perfrom with the interantional cruise line Princess Cruises.

I took over the school in 2009 and have enjoyed teaching ever since and I hope to be passing down the passion I have for dancing to my students.

Guest teachers

I qualified as a teacher in 1979 and have run a dance school ever since. I established the Susan Lucas School of Dance in Gamlingay in 1995.

Many of my pupils have gone onto study dance at university, colleges and independant dance colleges.

I spent a year holding the post of Chairman of the advisory committee for the Midlands and South East region of the Royal Academy of Dance. Currently I am the Director of Hitchin Young Thespians.

I share the teaching at the upper end of the school including grades 4 to 8. I hope to inspire every pupil to enjoy their dancing to the best of their ability for as long as they can.

Teachers are invited to our workshops as they can offer different styles and techniques that can help improve the childrens learning and strengthen their dancing ability.
